~I was in Knoxville, Tennessee for the past two weeks, and did some exploring while I was there:
The impressive United Methodist Church in downtown Knoxville. |
View of the same church taken from the observation deck of the "Sunsphere", a tower built for the 1982 World's Fair. |

World's Fair Park. The central area was drained for the winter, but will soon be filled with water and fountains. |
It's a long way down! |
A path in High Ground Park. |
A flooded quarry south of downtown, across the river. Some ducks out on the water had the whole lake to themselves. |
I also visited Fort Dickerson, a Civil War historical site in Knoxville. |
A path around the exterior of the fort, showing what remains of the earth walls. |
Sign in front of the fort. |
Reproduction of a three-inch ordinance rifle, light artillery that could be moved around the fort to different firing positions as needed. |
A monument at the bustling Market Square. |
